Answer: MyAccess is a Wi-Fi initiative of XDSL. Wi-Fi is wireless internet. This Wi-Fi product is mainly for TUKS students and home users that reside in the Pretoria Hatfield area and Louis Trichardt. The area is expanding constantly and will update. In Hatfield, you do not need any expensive hardware as this works in the same principle as a hotspot. All you need is a wireless enabled computer or laptop.

Question: When will my account be uncapped every month?
Answer: Your MyAccess account will only uncap at the beginning of each month. You can always buy additional prepaid gigs if needed.

Question: Does my bandwidth carry over each month?
Answer: Contract users, your cap will be reset at the beginning of the month to the amount specified in you contract. Prepaid/Topup will carry over until it is used up.

Question: What must my DNS be set to?
Answer: Please ensure the Wi-Fi connection on your PC or laptop is configured to obtain DNS server addresses automatically. Once you successfully connect to the network, the MyAccess hotspot will assign the necessary DNS server settings. We do not recommend setting your DNS servers manually.

Question: What applications can use my bandwidth?
Answer: Several applications can use your bandwidth without you knowing. The most common bandwidth thieves are:
  • Windows updates
  • Antivirus updates
  • Viruses/Trojans
  • Adobe updates
  • Any application that is setup to update automatically from the internet
Please be sure to configure your applications correctly, as we cannot refund you with extra bandwidth due to an incorrect configured system.

Answer: Yes, you will be able to play games online. Please note that the quality of your connection will have an influence on your gaming experience.

Answer: No, you can only make one connection at a time with your account. Depending on your setup, it is possible to share your internet connection over your local private LAN.

Question: When using wireless what causes slow speeds, and disconnections?
Answer: This could be happing if you are in an area just outside our covering range. There are many reasons why you might be getting slow speeds and get disconnections
  • Poor line of sight (LOS); walls and trees have a big influence
  • Your wireless device does not have a strong enough signal
  • There is something interfering with the signal
