What XDSL accomplished in 2009

Last year was a very interesting year and a very important one, as the regulations changed for the telecoms industry and the SEACOM cable arrived late in October.

XDSL worked hard in 2008 to be ready for all the changes in 2009. We installed our own IP connect which gives us a choice to use upstream providers, which in turn allows us to give the best to the customer, therefore getting the right balance between cost and reliability.

However, the SEACOM cable is still a new provider and must be tested. It is not a good idea to throw all your eggs in one basket as some of the other ISP’s noticed when they were down for two weeks.

In 2009:

  • XDSL increased its capacity with 150%
  • We have made Louis Trichardt a WiFi town after some requests
  • We have installed WiFi in Pretoria
  • Built a new server room in Midrand
  • Launched some of the most cost effective products available
  • Launched fixed IP ADSL
  • Launched our new and improved firewall with much more functionality
  • Launched family ADSL
  • Started a traffic auction site
  • Launched our Microwave products
  • Installed a 300MB link from Pretoria to our Midrand data centre

So we see 2009 as a huge success and we accomplished our goals and predicted the industry trend spot on!
